Betty and Berry's home in Oklahoma

We arrived safe and sound at Betty and Berry's home in Stillwater Oklahoma. We stopped at the visitors center as we entered Oklahoma and the folks there told us not to miss POPS and the old round barn. POPS is a soda pop store offering upwards of 500 flavors. To start with they had 50 different brands of Root Beer and 50 different brands of Cream Soda. POPS is located on old Route 66. Check them out at Http://www.pops66.com. We continued down the road about a 1/4 mile and toured the "Old Round Barn" Round barns are not that uncommon but round barns with a hemispherical roof are quite rare. I think we are going to stay in Oklahoma for awhile. Maybe a week. Betty & Berry have a beautiful home complete with an indoor pool. Reese, Jeanettes daughter gives swimming lessons.

Travelling through Texas

We left New Mexico headed for Oklahoma via Texas. We stayed overnight at Loves, a truck stop near Amarillo Texas. I love the food in Texas but I hate driving in Texas. Driving in Texas is like some of my stories. They just go on and on and on. Anyway here are a few pictures of the scenery in Texas. Remember if you double click on a picture you get a blow up of the picture.

Kriss and Russel in New Mexico

We traveled to my cousins home in Sandia Park near Albuquerque New Mexico. Kriss and Russel VanKirk. Jessie James, their Grandson was visiting. Russel's mom has Alzheimer's disease and lives with them. For those that don't know, this means Kris and Russel are really busy ALL the time. The weather was nice. I really expected it to be unbearably hot. Not so. I think it would be described as high desert. Not at all like the low Arizona desert we just left. Both high desert and low desert have their own special kind of beauty. We stayed for about 3 hours catching up on family stuff. We talked about making a plan for a family reunion. Sandia Park is centrally located to the rest of the family scattered from Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. WOW what a get together that will be. We leave New Mexico bound for Oklahoma via Amarillo, Texas.

We left Eric and Vicki's yesterday and moved on to Flagstaff, Prescott, and stopped for the night at Meteor Crater RV Park. Space 26. Complete with 8 local channels 2 in Spanish. Free WiFi, beautiful shower facilities a whole hole in the ground created by a meteor. The hole isn't free but we got a $2.00 discount for staying at the RV park. I haven't decided if I want to pay to see a hole. What the heck I'm on vacation. We will leave sometime today and head for Cousin Krissy's home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bagdad Arizona

We said bye to Herb and Helen and moved on to Eric and Vicki Laskowski's home in Bagdad Arizona. We arrived around 4PM. We had wine and a steak that was really great. That Vicki is a master cook at the Bar-B-Q. Vicki has taken a job at the school as a 6th grade teacher and Eric accepted a position as a Geologist at the mine in Bagdad. Jordan their youngest... oldest..... "ONLY" son is a brain-e-ack! We know that cause his laptop is a MAC. Jordan is leaving for college today 8-21-08. Jordan will be majoring in Chemistry at NAU (Northern Arizona University). Jordan will be living in the dorm at NAU. We had a really nice visit with the Laskowski's. A side note here: My apologies for the poor pictures of Eric and Jordan. It couldn't be me so it must be the camera. If time and fuel permits we may get to return for another tour in Bagdad.

Herb and Helens in Meadview

We arrived at Herb and Helens house the afternoon of 8-18-08. They have carved out a beautiful spot in the desert. As you can see their home is a real beauty. We had dinner on the porch as we watched the evening take over the desert. It's amazing how much wildlife is out there. You just have to stop, sit still, and watch. All of a sudden you start noticing things moving. It's then you realize the desert is alive. The white German Shepherd at the back door is Chili. Roxanne is sitting with Pepper a Miniature Poodle.Get it?.......... Chili Pepper Sheeeez The desert heat must be getting to me!

Boulder Dam

We left Las Vegas for Herb and Helens house in Meadview on Monday 8-18-08. On the way we crossed Boulder Dam. Awsome is about all you can say about this man made marvel.

Flying in Las Vegas

Sunday August 17th 2008 finds us at the airport in Las Vegas. Chad takes me flying. My first time in the drivers seat. My first time taking off. Really had a great time. Afterward Jen and Roxy picked us up at the airport and took us yard sailing. Or... is that sale-ing. Either way we had a great day. Too bad we have to leave in the morning. A little depression starts to set in knowing we have to leave but we still have lots to look forward to.

What happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas

After leaving Bodie we went to June Lake loop and stayed over night at June Lake. Seemed a little hot. The next morning 8-14-08 we fished June Lake and caught NUTHIN!
After fishing we left to see Chad and Jen in Vegas.
A few Hurricanes by the pool and I was date raped into getting a pedicure and manicure. If it wasn't for the pictures I wouldn't believe it. It's amazing what can be done with Photo Shop!

Bodie Ghost Town

We spent the night last night 8-12-08 at Bootleg Camp. The following morning we got up and left for Bodie. Maddy and I checked it ALL out. Life was short in Bodie with daily gun fights to the death. The cemetery had many headstones of children living only a few years.

The three musketeers

Our story begins here.
